Micro gear motors produced by Sha Yang Ye, ranging in size from eight millimeters to several centimeters, play a crucial role in the transmission of various products, from home appliances, electric door locks, electric sunshades and the U.S. military's emergency bone-drilling machines.

 Johnny Tsai, Vice CEO of Sha Yang Ye, pointed out that this time, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs' 'Subsidy for Carbon Reduction and Smart Manufacturing Upgrade in Large-to-Small Industries,' the whole factory has introduced intelligent manufacturing, which has solved the long-standing problem of Sha Yang Ye.

Smart Manufacturing Solves Technological Gaps and Ensures Experience Transfer

In the post-pandemic era, despite a surge in machinery industry orders, varying recovery rates, and challenges like short supply chains and labor shortages exist. Facing the trend of highly customized consumption, adopting smart manufacturing becomes crucial. Previously reliant on experienced craftsmen for machinery operation, the introduction of smart manufacturing enables automated processing code generation, reducing training time. This approach preserves 30 years of expertise, ensuring swift deployment across factories and addressing technological gaps.

Lean Management and Digital Upgrades: Enhancing Market Adaptability

Sha Yang Ye's smart manufacturing journey begins by integrating newer on-site machinery and introducing AXISCO's servo lifting broaching machine. This innovative design reduces tool vibrations, extending tool lifespan by 20%, lowering maintenance costs, and enhancing energy efficiency by 40%, aligning with the low-carbon industry trend.

In terms of software, provided by CIMFORCE, the Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) solution offers insights into various production aspects. Sha Yang Ye General Manager, Alex Peng, emphasizes the benefits of real-time monitoring of key indicators, expressing the desire for streamlined information flow with upstream and downstream partners.

In this project, four key suppliers, including Yiyi Precision, Sheng Liang Industrial, Chang Da Precision, and Feng Rong Precision, lead digital upgrades. Through the establishment of a supply chain streaming platform, collaboration capabilities between Sha Yang Ye and its suppliers are enhanced to address rapid market changes, particularly post-pandemic customer demands for shortened lead times. Alex Peng emphasizes that shortening information flow helps reduce inventory and implement lean management.

Embracing the 8S Philosophy

Sha Yang Ye, backed by government support, achieves factory intelligence, energy monitoring, and supply chain streaming goals through smart manufacturing. The initiative enhances decision-making and addresses environmental, social, and governance (ESG) concerns. Sha Yang Ye plans expansion in Malaysia in Q2 2024, maintaining a proactive attitude despite economic fluctuations.
